You heard it right! It is vrat ka falafel bowl. These falafels are made from kuttu / buckwheat groats. These falafels are served with stir fried singhada/waterchestnut, roasted peanuts and mint flavored hung curd.

Waterchestnut I have used here are dry ones because we don't get fresh waterchestnut here in Bangalore. Swipe to see boiled waterchestnuts. These waterchestnuts have to be soaked in water overnight and then you have to pressure cook them. But best if you use fresh ones.


1. Soak 1 cup buckwheat groats in water for 2 hours. then boil in water for 10 minutes. strain and keep aside.

2. In a bowl, take cooked buckwheat, 1 carrot (finely chopped), 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, 1 tsp chopped ginger, 1 tsp chopped green chillies, 1/2 cup boiled peanut, sendha namak.

3. Put all things in a blender and make coarse paste. add 1 tbsp rajgira flour and mix.

4. Make falafels from this mixture and deep fry. serve along with salad, roasted peanuts and hung curd.
