A healthy and authentic recipe from Karnataka, Oats Bisi Bela Bath is a modern variation of Bisi Bele Bath and is a fusion of oats, lentils and vegetables seasoned with the select spices from thr South Indian cuisine. This recipe is a great option for breakfast, especially for those who are diet concious.

Instructions

1. In a pan, add half cup quick oats and dry roast them for 3 to 4 minutes. transfer it to a plate now.

2. In a kadai, add two teaspoons of ghee, half teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, one spring curry leaves, one small onion and salt to taste. sauté till the onions turn translucent .

3. Add half small tomato and sauté this as well.

4. Add 3 tablespoons of carrot, 3 tablespoon french beans, 2 tablespoons capsicum, 3 tablespoons peas and mix this well and cook for two minutes.

5. Add half cup of water and one fourth teaspoon turmeric powder and give it a good stir.

6. Cook this for three to four minutes and add four tablespoons of pressure cooked toor dal / split pigeon peas, half cup tamarind extract and mix this well.

7. Further, add 1.5 tablespoon of bisibele bath powder. mix well

8. Add 1 more cup of water and stir continuously bring it to rolling boil. add the roasted oats. keep stirring it on medium flame till water dries up.

9. Instant oats bisibele bath is ready!!!!
