The citron has a slightly bitter and tangy in taste. This is very good for the stomach, it said to stimulates and refreshes the whole digestive system. It's quite rare to find this fruit, it has very less juice and more of the pulp and lot of seeds. It has lot of medicinal properties. It said to cure pitta dosha. So whenever my mil used to find this fruit she made sure to make this chitranna. I also make gojju and juice out of this fruit. It's a very simple chitranna

Instructions

1. Heat a pan with 1 tbsp oil. add 1/4 tsp mustard seeds. once it pops add 1 tbsp chana dal / bengal gram, 1 tbsp urad dal / black gram skinned, 2-3 chopped green chillies, a sprig of curry leaves, a pinch of hing / asafoetida and a pinch of turmeric powder. mix it and turn off flame.

2. Now add 4 tbsp freshly grated coconut and 1 cup cooked rice. mix it gently.

3. Add 3 tbsp citron juice / heralekai and a pinch of sugar. mix it, garnish with coriander leaves.
